Angelika Kauffmann Museum

The exterior of the 450-year-old typical Bregenzerwald timber house, which in its core was constructed in the 16th century, does not reveal the location of a state-of-the-art exhibition room. In 2007, in commemoration of the bicentenary of Angelika Kauffmann's death, a renowned Baroque paintress, the Angelika Kauffmann Museum was opened in the former barn and administrative wing. From May to October a new exhibition on different topics displays original paintings, engravings and original documents of Angelika Kauffmann (1741-1807).
During the winter months, regional fine art, as well as art treasures owned by Schwarzenberg, are displayed. In winter, visitors can also walk through the former residential part of the house and learn and experience comprehensive insights into the farming way of life, living culture and cultivation of home décor of the 19th century. Special exhibits, which focus on regional and local topics coincide with the themes of the paintings of Angelika Kauffmann.

Bad weather program

With bad weather, you can rent games from the local library, or you can swim in the indoor pool in Reuthe/ Lingenau/ Dornbirn. If you would like to visit the Werkraumhaus in Andelsbuch, it is only 6 min. by car from the town center, or you can drive to Dornbirn. Here, you can visit the Inatura natural history museum, enjoy a wellness day, or have fun at the indoor climbing center in Dornbirn.
