Tradition & Customs

Learn about the traditions of Schwarzenberg

The Alptag traditionally takes place the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Due to weather conditions, it may be necessary to hold the Alptag at an earlier date.
If you had to describe the Schwarzenberg Advent market in only one word, that word would be authentic.
It is simple, it is elegant, and it is one of Europe's oldest and most valuable folk costumes: the traditional Bregenzerwald women's dress.
In the Bregenzerwald community, traditional wind ensemble music and folk music set the tone.
The Wälderbahn, also lovingly called the "Wälderbähnle", offers a railway adventure at the pace of days gone by.
You can recognize a genuine Bregenzerwald native by their dialect, and every place has its own distinctive one.
